WHY THIS MATTERS

Something important disappeared from our neighborhoods.

The front porch wasn't just architecture.

It was where children played.

Where grandparents watched over the block.

Where neighbors became family.

Where stories, traditions, and memories were passed from one generation to the next.

Somewhere along the way, many of those spaces disappeared.

I'm searching for them...and helping build them back.

"I thought I was signing up for a porch consultation.

Instead, I learned the story of my neighborhood and started seeing my home differently."

Neighborhoods We've Visited

  • Lakewood Heights

A neighborhood shaped by resilience and reinvention.

Lakewood Heights is one of Atlanta's historic southside neighborhoods, where longtime residents, first-time homeowners, and new investment meet. While change continues to reshape the community, its tree-lined streets and front porches still tell stories of family, perseverance, and hope. Searching for the Porch explores how preserving neighborhood identity can coexist with thoughtful renewal.

  • Collier Heights

A community built for Black excellence.

Collier Heights stands as one of the nation's first planned communities designed specifically for middle- and upper-income Black professionals during segregation. Home to educators, physicians, entrepreneurs, civil rights leaders, and artists, the neighborhood represents a remarkable legacy of achievement and self-determination. Its spacious lots, ranch homes, and welcoming porches reflect a vision of community that continues to inspire generations.

  • Venetian Hills

A neighborhood where history and possibility meet.

Developed primarily in the mid-20th century, Venetian Hills became home to generations of Black families seeking stability, homeownership, and community in southwest Atlanta. Its rolling hills, mature trees, and classic ranch homes reflect a neighborhood built for everyday life. Through its porches and streets, Searching for the Porch explores how neighborhoods like Venetian Hills continue to carry stories worth remembering while embracing a new generation of residents.

  • Gresham Park

A neighborhood quietly writing its next chapter.

Nestled in southeast Atlanta, Gresham Park has long offered affordable homes, generous lots, and a strong sense of neighborhood pride. As new families arrive alongside longtime residents, the community continues to evolve while holding onto the relationships that make neighborhoods feel like home. Searching for the Porch explores how everyday front yards and porches become places where community is built one conversation at a time.

Your Story Begins

Meet The Founder

"I didn't start by trying to design porches. I started by asking what happened to them."

Somewhere along the way, we stopped building places that invited people to slow down, wave to a neighbor, or simply sit outside at the end of the day.

That question led me to neighborhoods across Atlanta, where every porch, and every missing porch, had a story to tell.

Today, Afro Luxury ATL exists to reconnect people with home through thoughtful design, neighborhood history, and storytelling. Whether I'm documenting a family's story for Searching for the Porch or revealing a custom Porch Premiere, my goal is the same: to create spaces where connection can happen again.

This work is about restoration...not trends.
